GREENDOG CAMPAIGNS SEES SUCCESS WITH THE NEW TRUTH SQUAD INDEPENDENT
EXPENDITURE VENTURE

San Francisco, CA (November, 2010)

In 2010, GreenDog Campaigns launched a new project, the GreenDog Truth Squad, dedicated to uncovering the machinations of corporate America, in the aftermath of the “Citizens United” Supreme Court decision (Citizens United v Federal Election Commission, 2010, 130 S.Ct. 876) which granted corporations nearly unlimited powers to pour money into political campaigns.

The first Truth Squad project was a website devoted to exposing Carly Fiorina’s corporate underpinnings.  Fiorina is the failed CEO of Hewlett Packard who challenged California’s progressive Senator Barbara Boxer, with seemingly limitless personal and corporate wealth.

GreenDog Campaigns was joined in this effort by San Francisco’s Vote Hope, run by Power PAC, a progressive organization working to increase the voting clout of minorities and youth.

Enlisting the help of writers, such as Richard Rapaport and artists, such as cartoonist Mark Fiorina, the website used political commentary, satire, first person accounts and video, to make the point that Carly Fiorina was in actually “Carly Co.” Her experience as the failed CEO of Hewlett Packard, sending thousands of jobs overseas, paying herself millions and eventually fired by her Company, gave the team lots of fodder.  Fiorina lost badly in the November General election.

GreenDog founder Dotty LeMieux declared the foray into Independent Expenditure Campaigns a success and looks forward to more activities in future post “Citizens United” elections.  “The Republicans will be taking of the gloves and opening the bank vaults in 2012,” said LeMieux, and the GreenDogs will be ready for them.”
